They also learned about hygiene and how important it is to wash your hands whenever you have been touching an animal. -
Wordless Books Week
Fri 07 Jun 2019From Nursery to Year 6, all classes have been celebrating 'Wonderful Wordless Books' this week. Each year group chose a different picture book to focus on and used it to inform the teaching for the week. Wordless books have so many benefits to children and can really support their reading skills and require children to engage with images on a deeper level along with firing up their imaginations! The children have thoroughly enjoyed studying these new texts. Please ask them about it at home!
The photographs show Year 2 who have been looking at ‘The Farmer and the Clown’. They created the farmer’s house in the classroom, including the items they thought he would have in his rooms. They then added some interesting adjectives to describe the items and gave each other guided tours of the house, describing what was inside!

Ancient Greek Topic in Y5
Fri 24 May 2019The Year 5 classes have had visitors from Durham University showing items them their Ancient Greek handling collection. They were able to look at and touch a combination of real and replica objects. They became archaeologists and recorded their findings, whilst trying to work out what the objects were and what they were used for. At the end of the session, all was revealed and they learned some amazing facts about the Ancient Greeks! They then created their own votive offerings from clay and produced their own campaign as it would have been used in a Greek democracy. They had to use the Greek alphabet to write their campaigns. The final task was to perform a Greek play using costumes and masks. The children had a fantastic day and learned so much about their topic. -
