Throckley Primary School Named the Top Primary in the Northeast by the Newcastle Chronicle.
We are proud to be named the top primary school in the Northeast by the Newcastle Chronicle in July 2024. The list is based on the KS2 SATs results from 2023 and shows that at Throckley Primary School, 94% of pupils met expected standards and more than one in three pupils (35%) achieved the higher standard.

We are proud to be ranked the 331st primary school in the country (out of over 16,000) in the 2023 Sunday Times Parent Power Guide. This ranking puts us in the top 2% of primary schools nationwide. Visits for Children Starting Reception in September 2025
We would like to invite families who are interested in joining our school to a visit led by our Early Years Leader . We would like to invite families who are interested in joining our school to a visit led by one of our Senior Leaders. These visits will take place instead of formal open days. We feel that a visit will give you the best opportunity to learn about our offer and to decide if Throckley Primary is the right school for you and your child. Admissions Information
Throckley Primary School is one and one half form entry (45 pupils per year group in 30-Hours Nursery - Year 6).
Throckley Acorns (for two-year-olds)
Throckley Acorns is our playgroup for children who are two. We accept children who qualify for the free 15 hours of funding for two-year-olds or who qualify for working parents funding. We also have paid places for children who do not qualify for either of these funding streams. To apply for a place in Throckley Acorns, please contact the School Office. The Office will send you an invitation to Applicaa which is our electronic application portal. Please complete the application and, based on your child's age, we will consider it in the most relevant Admissions Meeting. We will need to see the birth certificate and proof of address of the child and this information will be recorded on the application form. We accept children into our playgroup in the term after they turn two (September 2024, January 2025 and April 2025).
The Acorns sessions are held in the Nursery in the main school building. The Acorns sessions are Monday - Friday 9.00am - 12.00pm.

Rising 3s Admissions (for children who turn three between 1/9/2024 & 31/3/2025)
To apply for a place in our Rising 3s, please contact the School Office. The Office will send you an invitation to Applicaa which is our electronic application portal. Please complete the application and, based on your child's age, we will consider it in the most relevant Admissions Meeting. We will need to see the birth certificate and proof of address of the child and this information will be recorded on the application form. We have two intakes per year and children can join the Rising 3s in the term that they turn three (January 2025 and April 2025). We offer funded part-time (15 hours) places with the option to pay for additional hours. We also offer full-time funded (30 hours) places for families who qualify.
The Rising 3s are located in the main school building and we offer a combination of part-time and full-time places with both funded and privately paid for sessions. Please contact the school to discuss the options so that we can determine which sessions will best suit your needs.

30-Hours Nursery Admissions (for children who turn 3 before 31/8/24)
We will continue to offer 30-hours per week of free Nursery education in 2023/24 for all children who turn three by 31 August 2024. To apply for a place in our Nursery, please contact the School Office. The Office will send you an invitation to Applicaa which is our electronic application portal. Please complete the application and, based on your child's age, we will consider it in the most relevant Admissions Meeting. We will need to see the birth certificate and proof of address of the child and this information will be recorded on the application form. Parents/carers will be asked to complete a Parent Declaration Form which will enable the School Office to check with Newcastle City Council in order to determine if the child qualifies for a 30-hour funded place. Please note that it is not necessary to qualify for the 30-hour funding in order to attend 30 hours in our Nursery, but the school needs to claim the funding for all children who do qualify.

Admissions Policies
How to raise an objection to the school Admission Policy
There is a right for people to object to the policy to the Schools Adjudicator (OSA). See the Schools Adjudicator website<https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/office-of-the-schools-adjudicator> for more information on how to do this.
Objections for the admissions arrangements for 2024/25 must be made by 15 May 2024.
