Year 6 Interactive Poetry Lesson
Year 6 used the Seesaw App for an interactive English lesson. The children read aloud the National Poetry week poem, 'Refugees’ by Brian Bilston and then answered questions about it. They then explored the stereotypes used by the poet, which led to a fantastic discussion surrounding why refugees leave their own country to move to a different one. After the discussion, they read the poem backwards and, to their surprise, it changed the meaning of the poem altogether! They used Seesaw to capture their thoughts and discussions about the more caring meaning that they discovered in the poem when they read it in reverse.
