Skills for Life - Olly Organisation
Last year, we introduced an exciting new programme which supports children to develop the skills necessary to succeed in primary school, secondary school and beyond! ‘LORIC – Skills for Life’ is now embedded in all that we do at Throckley Primary. We believe that success in curriculum subjects is essential, but we see our role as supporting much more than that. By focussing on 5 key skills (leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative and communication), we want to ensure that all children leave our school fully equipped and ready for their next challenge!
We will be focussing on one area of LORIC each half term, starting with the skill of organisation! Since the beginning of term, children across the school have been exploring what it means to be organised; and we have to say, we’ve been more than impressed by the results! Children are arriving at school fully prepared for the day; P.E. kits are all hanging neatly on pegs; pencils are sharpened and ready to go; reading records are returned each morning; what a fantastic start! Watch out for stickers on jumpers and LORIC achievement stars on the Parent App as we celebrate the progress children are making in their organisation skills.
You can help at home, too! Why not encourage your child to pack their book bag each evening? Or ask them to fold and pack their kit bag the night before a sports club? Let’s start as we mean to go on and have a huge push on organisation – at home and at school! We hope you too can see the benefits of this exciting programme.
