Year 4 was very lucky to have Mr Hughes working with our class to look at online safety and discuss body image. First we looked at a range of online social media apps and what’s good vs what’s bad about using them.  The main part of the session was spent looking at how photos are changed by people before they post them online. Having looked at some examples and  discussed what people had changed and why, the children then had a go at changing photos on the iPads. This hands-on experience showed them how easily photos can be manipulated to not portray reality and how we should be happy with the way we naturally look rather than feeling pressured to look like photos that aren’t real.

Year 5 worked with GEM education and looked at how we stay safe online and be a good   digital citizen. Children watched a number of videos which had important messages about being kind to one another on an online community.
