Year 1 is participating in a Unicef project which enables schools to send Christmas presents to vulnerable children around the world. As part of their learning in PSHE, the classes visited a virtual shop on the Unicef website to learn about the presents that are available to send and why the children might want those presents. They then voted for their favourite present and used their maths skills to create a bar chart which showed the results of the vote. The children decided to send 400 pencils and several boxes of high energy biscuits to a school. If you have a child in Year 1, be sure to ask them to tell you why they made these choices. Mrs Wright and Mr Metcalf will purchase the gifts through the website and Paddington Bear will be sending each class a lovely thank you letter.
