RHS Five Star Gardening School Award
In April of this year, Mr Elliott commenced a project which is bringing our allotment back to life with the aim of helping pupils in school become aware of, and take care of, their own physical and mental health as well as tackling our worldwide plastic pollution epidemic.
As a result of a fantastic first year, we have secured our target of all five of the Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘School Gardening Awards’ through accomplishments such as: composting, growing our own produce, harvesting this for use in the school canteen (we have eaten some freshly harvested cabbages with our lunch today!), hosting a RHS ‘Big Soup Share’ (made from our own Leeks) and entering our local leek show! This five star award grants us a very prestigious accreditation.
A big well done to all of the children involved! An exciting future in our allotment awaits …
