National Poetry Day 2020
On Thursday we all celebrated National Poetry Day. The photos above show just some of the poetry activities which were taking place in classrooms throughout the school.
- Year 4 explored their five favourite types of poems and then sorted Stone Age poems into whether they were cinquain, tanka or haiku. The children know the difference between these types of poems by how many lines and syllables they have. They then used their knowledge of Stone Age cave people to create their own kenning riddle poem about them. To finish off their favourite five poems, they worked as a class to create an acrostic poem about the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages.
- Year 2 read and recited a poem about superheroes to link in with their class book, ‘Traction Man’ by Mini Grey.
