Sometimes it’s tricky choosing books for children to enjoy; there is so much out there and new authors are popping up all of the time. We know that parents and carers at our school want to support us in encouraging children to develop a real love of books and stories and that’s why we have created a ‘Must Read’ checklist for each year group. These documents pull together a range of new and classic authors and include a list of age-appropriate books we would highly recommend for children in each phase.

We will be using these exciting stories in school, too. We always ensure that books we share in class are engaging and full of wonderful opportunities to develop vocabulary, inference and – perhaps most importantly – get lost in a good book!

You can find all of these books in our library which is open every Friday afternoon after school and we also have copies of these texts available in classrooms for children to enjoy.
