Spooky Science.

There has been some spook-tacular science investigations happening this week in Year 6G. As part of our ‘Living Things and Their Habitats unit, we have been exploring microbes (viruses, fungi and bacteria). We used our reading skills to research the three types of microbes and then used our newly obtained knowledge to consider how we can preserve items to prevent them from contaminating our food. Using our creepy pumpkins, we worked in groups to investigate the effect different liquids (vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, yoghurt and milk) would have on them. Carefully, wearing gloves and goggles, we covered our pumpkins in the substance we were given. We’re eagerly waiting to discover after half term which substance preserved the pumpkin the best.
