Year 5B - Science - The movement of the planets.

In Science this week, we have been looking at how and why the planets in our solar system orbit the Sun. We found that all the planets rotate anti-clockwise but they orbit the Sun in a clockwise direction. Some of us represented each of the eight planets (we remembered to includes all the plants by using the acronym ‘My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming… all the planets’) and Cole was at the centre of our solar system acting as the Sun! We began rotating anti-clockwise and then moved in a clockwise direction around Cole. The planets further away from the Sun take longer to make one orbit so the children acting as these planets travelled much slower than those closer to Cole! Safe to say we were all very dizzy afterwards!!!
