Year 4B - Classification - 08.03.19

Classifying Vertebrates.

This week Class 4B continued their new topic exploring all living things by working as a team. Their desks had been covered in dozens of photos of animals and they were challenged to ‘organise them.’ With no other instructions, they divided themselves into their own groups with a small number of animals. Some discussed habitats, wings and carnivores. Explaining their thinking, they were then given the names of the vertebrate groups. The children quickly advanced their thinking, negotiating as a class to create five distinct groups. After looking at the characteristics of the groups, they changed their mind about the turtle and platypus- always tricky! Fabulous teamwork.
