Virtual Sport's Day

We can't have sports day at school this year, so we are hosting a virtual sports day! We need your help to make the event a success. Compete individually or get your whole family involved. You can choose any day that suits you to hold your sports day at home as long as you send your scores to your teacher by Friday 10th July. There are 3 events you can do on your own and send your scores to contribute to the total score for your housel.  Please see the video below for examples of how to run your events.
Long jump
Set up a tape measure and put your toes at the start. Jump from two feet and land on two feet. Measure where you land from the heel of your back foot.
Throw as many items as you can into a container in 1 minute. Use a tape measure to put the container at the correct distance for your year group. Count how many go in.
  • Reception: 1 metre
  • Year 1 & 2: 1.5 metres
  • Year 3 & 4: 2 metres
  • Year 5 & 6: 2.5 metres
Find a safe area to set up a track. Measure the space that you have and work out how many laps you will have to run to complete the distance for your year group. Time how long it takes.
  • Reception: 40 metres
  • Year 1 & 2: 60 metres
  • Year 3 & 4: 80 metres
  • Year 5 & 6: 100 metres
Send your results to your teacher by Friday 10th July to contribute to the score of your house. Please upload your results via Tapestry (Nursery & Reception) or Seesaw (Year 1 - Year 6). The winning house will be announced during the last week of term.
Want to make it an even more exciting event at home? Add some other fun races to compete with your family. E.g egg and spoon, basketball bounce, obstacle race. Create your own courses and have some fun! We would love to see how much fun you have at your sports day, so feel free to upload photos and videos to Tapestry and to Seesaw.
Have fun and stay safe,
Miss Thorpe
