Science - Water Resistance.

To complete our topic around forces, in Science this week, we planned and completed an investigation to distinguish the relationship between the shape of objects and the effect of water resistance. We made six different shapes out of plasticine; a cone, cube, cuboid, flat cylinder, triangular prism and sphere which we then dropped into a container of water from the same height. We timed how long it would take for each shape to touch the bottom of the container. We found that the cone reached the bottom the quickest and therefore had the least air resistance acting upon it. We described the cone as the most streamline as it was smooth and curved with a pointed end.
