Science - Separating Mixtures.

In Science, we have been learning about the properties and changes of materials. This week, we conducted an investigation to find the most suitable process of separation for a range of mixed materials. Most of these were mixtures of solids and liquids such as sand and raisins, paper clips and rice and soil and water. Because nothing dissolved in these three stations, we used sieving, magnetism and filtering to separate the mixtures. However, we also separated one solution, where the solid has dissolved into the water completely. We used evaporation to separate salt and water at this station. Because we were able separate the mixtures and solution at the stations, it made it easier to write a detailed explanations of each process of separation in our books.
