Pumpkin Science in Year 6

Beginning their investigation of common microbes, Year 6 set out to discover which household liquid would best preserve a freshly carved pumpkin for over a week. After formulating their hypotheses, they carefully scooped out and carved their pumpkins with the design of their choice. Having performed a risk assessment (and wearing safety equipment) they applied milk, yoghurt, eggs, vinegar and bleach. What do you predict?
