Maths & Art - M.C.Escher and Tesselating Patterns.

As part of our ‘Geometry’ unit in mathematics and our ‘Taking Inspiration from the Greats’ in Art and Design, we have been learning about M. C. Escher and his famous work around tessellating patterns. We looked at a range of his pieces of work and discovered a tessellating pattern is a pattern which is repeated over and over again, without gaps or overlaps. After, we created our own tessellating pattern stencil using card and scissors and created an A4 version in our art books. To deepen our knowledge of ‘Geometry’, we then listed all of the different mathematical properties.
