Random Acts Of Kindness Week (Anti-bullying Week)
As part of National Anti-bullying Week, our children took part in the following activities which encourage the children to practise respect and tolerance:
Nursery - our youngest children practice being kind in all of their activities throughout the day, every day in order to learn about relationships and empathy.
Reception - made a friendship web during circle time. They rolled a ball of string to each other while saying kind things and in the end they had a lovely web.
Year 1&2 Blue and Green - Created work on the theme ’Make a Noise About Bullying’ during their PHSE lesson. They wrote about why it is important to be kind and about something kind that they had done. They also nominated their friends for acts of kindness.
Year 2 - the children in this class wrote about something helpful that they had done at home, school or for a friend. They gave examples of ways to be friendly.
Years 3 & 4 - the children in these classes wrote poetry about friendship and caring.
Years 5 & 6 - used the following quote from the ghost of Jacob Marley in ’A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens, ’I wear the chains I forged in life...I made it link by link and yard by yard’. They explored the idea of breaking the chain with acts of kindness. They made their own paper chains with unkind words on one side and kind words on the other to symbolise breaking the chain.
School Council - met with Mrs Stuart to figure out ways to make sure that our yards are happy and friendly places during break times. Mrs McDonald is going to work with class ‘Game Leaders’ to ensure that there are always lots of fun games to join in with on the yards.
