French, R.E and P.S.H.E - Shrove Tuesday and Mardis Gras.

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, we thought about what the celebration represented in this country! After this, we thought about different festivals around the world which are intended to celebrate the same thing. ‘Mardis Gras’ (or ‘Fat Tuesday’) is a festival which takes place in countries like France, Italy, Germany and Brazil. We found out that there are lots of different celebrations which take place in these countries, for example:  there is a carnival where people dress up in lots of different fancy colours and eat lots of different t exciting foods! After this, in partners, we looked at a French crepe recipe and used a bank of vocabulary to create a rough English translation. We then applied our French Speaking and Listening skills to order our own crepes in Mr Brown and Miss Dockey’s crepe shop! We all loved them… even our teachers!
