Design and Technology - Appraising the qualities of different chocolates.

In DT, we are studying cookery. We are working towards creating our own South American-inspired, festive, chocolate treats! We have analysed different recipes, picking out the important features before discussing different cooking techniques which are available to us. As well, we discussed the storage of different ingredients (e.g. flour VS cream) and shared why some ingredients need to be stored in the fridge. This was a lovely chance for us to apply our Science knowledge across the STEM Curriculum. In this lesson, we tasted milk, dark and white chocolate and appraised their unique qualities and flavourless such as: bitterness, sweetness and flavour matchings. Ask your child what they thought and be sure to drop those hints about which your favourite is before we create our recipes later in the half term!
