Talking to Learn

24th March 2017

Our teachers have been taking part in training sessions which help them to create opportunities for the children to speak to one another in meaningful ways about their learning.  Research shows that children learn from each other when they can talk and ask each other questions during a lesson.  This talk-based learning also helps them to develop social skills and confidence when speaking to others.  Purposeful conversation is a skill that teachers help the children to learn and the photographs above are of Miss Sewell’s Y1 class practising their conversations.  Please ask your child to share with you the things that they have learned about talking in their lessons.
