We have enjoyed having you join us for our PSHE Curriculum Week.  We hope that the time you have spent with your child in school this week has given you an insight into this broad area of the curriculum where children learn about risk, safe and informed decision making, relationships, finance and a healthy lifestyle.  Our Throckley values are a key part of PSHE in our school and the teachers came up with some creative ways for you and your child to explore the words Learning, Caring, Respect,   Teamwork, Success and Pride while taking part in fun PACT activities.

  • Early Years were ‘learning’ about autumn by completing different tasks with their parents/carers.  They are ‘proud’ of the work they completed which will form part of a special display.
  • Key Stage 1 held separate discussions with parents and children about E-Safety.  They then brought the two groups together to design E-Safety posters.  Their work focussed on showing ‘respect’ and ‘caring’ for others when we are online.
  • Years 3 & 4 made their own models of ipads and then used those models to demonstrate the         concepts of E-Safety.  They also focussed on ’pride’ in our community by working on our Throckley Time Capsule (more information to follow).  Finally, they went out on the yard and played some ’teamwork’ games.
  • Years 5 & 6 explored ‘teamwork’ while completing a scientific enquiry project.  They worked in teams to make steady-hand games with minimal instructions.  They also did some silent brainstorming using the school values.
Here are some of the things that you had to say about your experiences:
'A lovely morning spent with the children in Mrs Wright's classroom.  The posters were a great way of discussing online safety with my child and great fun!'
'Listening to how Robert and Aaron have a sense of awareness for accessing the internet and working together.'
'It's been lovely to listen to the children's thoughts on e-safety.  They have remembered some really important points.'
I really enjoyed the fact that the school are so concerned about the concerns that come with the internet and keeping the children safe.'
'Always enjoy coming into school on these PACT days.'

If you would like to see more photographs from the PACT sessions, please visit the ‘Galleries’ section of this website.  We look forward to welcoming you in to school for other activities in the future.
