Dreidel Game and RE in Year 3

10th February 2017

In Religious Education, Year 3 have been using talk for writing to learn about a variety of different religions. We began by learning an extract of  text about Christianity using Talk for Writing strategies. This is where we create actions and a story map to help us to recall the story from memory. In the next few lessons, we researched different religions including Judaism, Hinduism and Jehovah's Witness', then changed the story to match the beliefs, symbols and celebrations specific to those religions.

As part of this topic, Year 3 have been learning about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. We spoke about things they did to celebrate this festival and found it so interesting that we tried out a game called 'Dreidel' that Jewish people enjoy playing.
