British Values & Football

17th June 2016

The children enjoyed an amazing atmosphere in the lead up to the England v Wales match yesterday. Mr Kidger led an assembly about the history of the European Cup which focussed on respecting our rivals from other countries.  He compared the match to a local derby with two teams from the UK playing against each other and asked the children to think about the feelings of the Welsh fans.  We were so  impressed with the passion and enthusiasm of the children wanting to support their country. Thank you to everyone who brought in a flag or horn to add to the atmosphere.  Unfortunately, most schools in Newcastle tried to stream the match at the same time and the City Council servers couldn’t support that much activity so the children only saw a minute of the match.  Despite this, we all had a great time!
